Finding Patterns on Ravelry

One of the best sites to find patterns online is on Ravelry, an online community of crafters. Knitters and crocheters can access free patterns as well as patterns to purchase on the site.

Knit in the Row Below

Knit in the row below patterns can create a textured and airy fabric when worked with knits and purls on the right side but also simulate stranded knitting when worked as stockinette. Like with the slip stitch patterns the knit in the row below patterns don’t curl on the edges when worked as rib or garter stitch, but behave like stockinette when all right side stitches are knitted.

Eleanor Roosevelt - a Knitter

Knitty magazine (Winter 2009) featured a vintage mitten pattern reworked by Franklin Habit. The original pattern was in Eleanor Roosevelt's handwriting.

Mrs. Roosevelt was an avid knitter and carried her knitting with her everywhere. In her autobiography, Mrs. Roosevelt writes that when she was five or six, her nurse cut holes into the socks she had knit so that she would learn how to darn heels properly.

Beth Hester said, "When designing this Shoulder Bag I was thinking of the summer ahead, upcoming travels and family gatherings. In addition, I wanted to use up some short ends of dyed reed that had accumulated from classes and other projects. 

This basket's size is 3" x 13" x 13" tall and each row of weaving is about 3 feet in length. In the pattern I'm giving you the 'Recipe' I used, but I encourage you to think of your particular needs, get out your leftovers, add a pound of 5/8" Flat for stakes and some weavers, gather your rim materials and choose the style handle that appeals to you."
