Spring Retreat - Latch Hook Chair Pads

Saturday, several guild members met at the Frank B. Wise Business Plaza in Fort Washakie for a afternoon class on making chair pad with wool roving and a crochet hook. Maia Rose was the instructor and provided the mesh base and the roving for the pad. Participants folded the edge of the mesh and using a "G" or "H" crochet hook began by securing the top edge before adding the roving into thick poofy rows.

Everyone went home with at least two inches completed on their 16 inch chair pad.

Spring Retreat - Dyeing

Saturday, several guild members met at the Frank B. Wise Business Plaza in Fort Washakie for a morning class on dyeing wool with Kool-aid and food coloring. Briana Franks, the instructor, was assisted by Sandy Watkins. They prepared the small hanks of yarn and the supplies for the class of ten individuals and allowed the members to experiment and play with the colors.

Members experimented with several methods of dyeing: hand-painting, immersion, and dip-dyeing.

The dyed wool was steamed in crock pots, and some were finished in the microwave.

Clear Creek Stop in Clearmont has three cabins available for overnight rental

Other motel accomadations are available 30 miles away in Historic Buffalo, Wyoming.

Come and enjoy an experience of working with natural fibers, helping to make a connection with the animals that produce your fiber and learning from producers who raise the fibers you love!

(We will only be working with Natural/Local Fibers at this event) 

Class prices vary from $15 to $75 depending.  

Pre-Registration is preferred this year 

but 

Sign-up the day of the event at the check-in will be available for most classes.

There will be classes (and Demos) in Weaving, Needle Felting, Wet Felting, Spinning (wheel and drop spindle), Natural Plant Dyeing, Knitting, Crochet, and whatever else these clever natural fiber producers can bring with them to teach us!

Lunch will be provided (FREE): make your own sandwich from 12 – 1 pm.

Dinner will be at 5:30 pm over the campfire both evenings.  Dinner is $10.00 per person ($6.00 for children under 12) but is FREE if you register (at the gate) & enjoy 2 classes!

Marshmallows over the campfire are FREE

Classes are available for passerby observation FREE of charge, but to participate, you must register for the class.  Again our main focus is to use and enjoy naturally grown regional fibers down to the LAST bag!

Fiber Arts Retreat

April 15 - 17, 2016 

(Friday 9AM - Sunday 3PM)

Togwotee Lodge

located on the Togwotee Pass road between Dubois and Moran, WY

The lodge will be open to retreat members only, so participants can do their own thing: quilting, knitting, spinning, beading, reading a book, or relaxing. 

Rooms are $100 a night - no matter how many individuals stay in a room. 

Food costs are shared and are usually between $20 and $35

Back in Time - Spring Retreat 2014

Mary (our instructor) reviews Jeni and Jean's work. 

The first Fiber Guild retreats were held on a warm Saturday in May 2014. Two, all-day classes were offered: Beginning Crochet and Dyeing Natural Fiber.

Near the end of the class, Vicky was crocheting with a tiny hook and
crochet thread. Each person mastered Single and Double Crochet and
started a Granny Square. 

Instructors for the classes were Guild members, and they were paid a stipend for their expertise.

Colleen (plaid shirt) was the instructor for the dyeing
class. She raises sheep and angora rabbits and has a
small yarn shop on her farm. 

Rachel (a new Guild member) and LeAnn tend their
dyeing pots.

The Beginning Crochet class had 9 students, and the Dyeing Natural Fiber had 7 students.
